Buzzing Futures: Youth Advocacy and Communication for Pollinators

We are excited to share that Biodiversity Action Europe (BAE) is leading a new initiative, "Buzzing Futures: Youth Advocacy and Communication for Pollinators," in partnership with Pollinator Ambassadors (PA). This 12-month project, running throughout 2026, is funded by the European Fund for Youth Action on Pollinators, a program co-funded by the European Union and implemented through IUCN Save Our Species. With a total budget of €67,377.47, the project specifically targets youth in Austria and France, aiming to address the critical decline of wild pollinators by transforming scientific knowledge into powerful local advocacy.

The project features a hands-on, two-phase approach designed to empower 25 young advocates. It begins with a 3-day capacity-building workshop in Lyon, where participants will master advocacy strategy and science communication tools. Moving into the second phase, the group will use systems thinking and creative zine-making to explore pollinator loss as a "wicked problem," developing unique artistic outputs that double as local action plans. The project culminates in a high-visibility showcase in Vienna and online, where these creative zines and site-level conservation successes will be presented to policymakers and the public to inspire a new generation of pollinator protection.
